Luis Alexander Sardiñas Avilez... rated as the sixth-best international prospect by Baseball America at the time he was signed by Rangers' scouts Rafic Saab, Pedro Avila, and Mike Daly at age 16 in July 2009…played in the Perfect Game Showcase at the Metrodome in Minneapolis in June 2009.

2016

In his first year in the Padres organization he set career-highs in nearly every offensive category including games (66), hits (44), home runs (four), RBI (18) and runs scored (25)...Made the Mariners Opening Day roster and played for Seattle before being optioned on 5/14…after three stints with the Mariners he was designated for assignment on 8/10 and acquired via trade by the Padres in exchange for cash considerations and optioned to El Paso the same day on 8/14 ...Called up by the Padres on 8/22 and played the remainder of the season with San Diego...Started 33 of his 34 games with the Padres after being called up on 8/22, with 32 at shortstop and one at second base ...Overall on the year he hit .302 (19-for-63) against left-handed pitching between his time with Seattle and San Diego, and .214 (25-for-117) against right-handers...Also hit .353 (12-for-34) with runners in scoring position over his time with Seattle and San Diego, including .500 (7-for-14) with RISP and two outs.
